2 Timothy 2:2 CSB
“since our hearts are made to find their end in God, we will experience a besetting anxiety and restlessness when we try to love substitutes. To be human is to have a heart. You can’t not love. So the question isn’t whether you will love something as ultimate; the question is what you will love as ultimate. And you are what you love.”
James K.A. Smith, You Are What You Love
“Before we take the gospel to the end of the earth, we should take it to the end of the street.”
J.T. English, Deep Discipleship
Justification, Sanctification, and Glorification
• Justification is “an act of God where He pronounces a sinner to be righteous because of that sinner’s faith in Christ.” We are justified, or declared righteous, at the moment of our salvation (Romans 3:21–26).
• Sanctification is “the process by which Christians are set apart for God from the rest of the world.”(Galatians 5:16–24)
• Glorification is “God’s final removal of sin from the life of the saints so that they stand faultless before Him in glory in eternity” (Romans 8:18; 2 Corinthians 4:17)
As Christians, we were justified when we confessed Christ and believed, we are sanctified as we grow in holiness through the work of the Spirit, and we will someday be glorified when we are resurrected into eternal life.
